A modern ‘architectural sensation’: The Jubilee Line Extension stations
Tuesday 13th October 2020
11am - 11:45am
Live online event
Join Mike Ashworth, former head of heritage for Transport for London and Henrietta Billings, director of SAVE Britain's Heritage for this special live event celebrating the award winning design and architecture of the Jubilee Line Extension stations, including Southwark Station which SAVE successfully campaigned to protect from major demolition in 2017.
Described as "the biggest architectural sensation of their kind since the Moscow Underground’' when they opened in 1999, the stations on the line were commissioned by Roland Paoletti for London Underground, soon after he completed the impressive new Metro in Hong Kong. He chose a group of talented architects both established and at the beginning of their careers - including Hopkins Architects (Westminster), MacCormac (Southwark), North Greenwich (Will Alsop) and Canary Wharf (Foster + Partners).
Please register for the event through Eventbrite. This live online event will take place on Zoom and the joining instructions will be sent by email closer to the time of the event.
This event is free to attend and open to all and we ask that you consider making a contribution of £10 to SAVE Britain's Heritage here.
