SAVE tour of Shrewsbury - From Mill to Manor

Join SAVE Britain's Heritage on a two part tour of Shrewsbury beginning with a visit to Ditherington Flaxmill Maltings, the first iron-framed building in the world, with Harriet Devlin, Trustee of SAVE. This is an incredible opportunity to see and hear about a remarkable example of industrial architecture and its restoration journey which is being undertaken by Historic England and supported by the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings.

We will then travel to Pitchford Estate, where we will have a special tour of Pitchford Hall, one of the loveliest timber frame houses in Britain and a building that had spent a number of years on the Historic England Buildings At Risk register. It was recently repurchased by the family of the original owner, Rowena Colthurst and her husband, who have rescued the property from galloping decay with much support and encouragement from SAVE since the early 90's. The afternoon will offer an insight into the history and renovation of this stunning Grade I listed Elizabethan building. The afternoon will finish with drinks on the lawn of Pitchford Estate.
