The Guardian’s coverage of Bill Bryson supporting our M&S fundraising appeal was the best-read article on the paper’s website for several hours before the latest twist in the Tory leadership contest took over. The story was also picked up by many other titles from the Architects’ Journal to Time, the international news magazine. Our arguments also featured in the Financial Times and on Time Out’s Instagram account.
SAVE’s director Henrietta Billings had a piece published in Architecture Today arguing that the construction and buildings industry needs to take responsibility for the sheer scale of emissions it is responsible for through demolition and rebuild.
And SAVE’s Buildings at Risk officer Liz Fuller was interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s You & Yours programme talking about the hurdles to saving old buildings in an age of austerity.
The SAVE team’s visit to Norwich to discuss Anglia Square generated a flurry of good headlines about our alternative vision.
Finally, the government’s decision to list the Oldham Mural in the week that it suffered (thankfully minor) vandalism was celebrated in papers around the world.
