SAVE Two day tour of Edinburgh
Join SAVE Britain's Heritage on a very special two day tour of Edinburgh with Adam Wilkinson, Director of Edinburgh World Heritage Trust and former Secretary of SAVE Britain’s Heritage.
Day 1, 16th May. We will start in the medieval Old Town for a walking tour of UNESCO listed historic Edinburgh, walking the Royal Mile from Castle to Palace, following on with a walk to Calton Hill and then dropping down into the Neo-classical New Town. We will stop for lunch (included in price) during the walk.
Day 2, 17 May. We will visit Gosford House in Longniddry where we will be given a private tour of the neo-classical mansion, one of the last great architectural commissions of the celebrated architect Robert Adam. It was constructed for the seventh Earl of Wemyss and the building was completed in 1800. After the visit, we will have lunch (included in price) at the golf club nearby. Our afternoon tour will continue after lunch.
Itinerary Saturday 16th May:
12:30 – 14:00: Walking tour part 1 through the medieval Old Town. Meeting point at The Tron Kirk, High St, Royal Mile, Edinburgh EH1 1PD at 11am.
14:00 – 15:30: Light lunch (included in price).
15:30 – 17:00: Walking tour part 2 continuing through the New Town.
Itinerary Sunday 17th May:
Meeting point: Bus Stop PP, Princes Street, Edinburgh Waverley Station at 10.45am to travel by minibus to Gosford House
11:30 – 13:00: Tour of Gosford House.
13:00 – 14:00: Light lunch (included in price).
14:30 – 16:00: Afternoon tour.
Return on minibus to Edinburgh Waverley Station, arriving back around 4.45pm.
