The Griffin Inn has reopened!

We have just heard that the Griffin Inn in Lyswen, Powys, has been restored and brought back into use as a pub and hotel.  This roadside inn appeared in our 2018-19 Buildings at Risk Catalogue, Revive and Survive, when it has been standing empty for around two years.   We made it our Building of the Month in July 2018 and in September 2018 we reported that the Griffin Inn had been sold to a new owner who had previous experience of successfully bringing pubs back to life.  

The Grade II listed Griffin Inn was built as an inn in the 19th century and may incorporate an earlier building.  It was originally owned by the Glanusk Estate.  It has long been a landmark in the area because of its prominent corner site. It was charmingly designed to hug the curve of the corner with a central gabled section housing the main entrance, which projects forwards.  Inside there are a succession of rooms full of character with exposed beams and open fire places. 

It reopened on 12th July and as the photos show is looking extremely welcoming.  If you are passing, pop in for a drink or stay the night!
