SAVE Britain's Heritage Launches New Internship Programme for new entrants to the heritage sector

SAVE Britain's Heritage is launching a new Internship Programme and welcomes applicants from all parts of the community for a 4 month part-time paid intern position for those who are new to the historic built environment sector.

You might be studying or have recently completed studies (undergraduate or post-graduate) or be looking to change careers. You will have a genuine enthusiasm for historic architecture and a general understanding of how the planning system can protect it.  You will be willing to tackle a varied and busy workload independently with support from staff members and have the ability to work quickly and with flexibility to tight deadlines.  Excellent writing and analytical skills are essential for this position. The position offers the opportunity of in-depth work experience and an insight into the historic built environment sector.

SAVE Britain’s Heritage is at the forefront of national heritage conservation. We intervene to help historic buildings and places in serious danger of demolition or decay. We stand apart from other organisations by bringing together architects, engineers, planners and investors to offer alternative proposals.

We are a small, dynamic and friendly team, and this post will provide first-hand experience of a range of activities relevant to work in the historic built environment. You will work with our Conservation Adviser to gain experience of heritage advocacy, including commenting on planning applications and assisting in research and analysis for current campaigns to save threatened buildings. You will also work with our Buildings at Risk Officer on updating our national database of buildings at risk and support our Fundraising and Events Officer in looking after our Friends and Saviours and organising events.
