Cathedral cities don't need tower blocks: Alternatives for Anglia Square

Join us for a online event to hear about alternative visions for Anglia Square in the centre of Norwich, following the landmark decision by the Secretary of State to refuse the highly controversial 20 storey tower proposals. Now is the time for fresh thinking, and proposals the whole community can support.

Hear from John Neale, head of development advice at Historic England, Robert Sakula of Ash Sakula architects on their alternative vision for this historic site, local resident Gail Mayhew, and chair of the Norwich Society Paul Burall.

The event follows a three-year battle against the plans concluding in a public inquiry earlier this year, where SAVE Britain’s Heritage alongside Historic England, The Norwich Society and other local and national bodies played a leading role in fighting the plans.

Whilst we support the principle of regenerating Anglia Square, SAVE contends the square can be redeveloped in a different way which will unlock public benefits without harming the historic character of the city.
