BILLINGSGATE REPORT
With the new fish market in the Isle of Dogs, the City Corporation proposed to demolish Billingsgate. SAVE was instrumental in getting the old market listed, and commissioned a scheme to show how it could be adapted to an alternative use. Published July 1980.

BLINK AND YOU'LL MISS IT - NORTHERN IRELAND'S HERITAGE IN DANGER
SAVE's hard hitting investigation into the state of conservation in Northern Ireland is now available. The main problems facing the built environment are highlighted, including the scandalous rate of delisting, a lack of resources and an abject lack of enforcement action. Other areas covered importantly include the destruction of vernacular buildings. 30 recommendations are made with the aim of encouraging thorough reform of the Province's conservation system. Published June 2001.

SAVE lightening leaflet prepared jointly with the Thirties Society highlighting the importance of this post-war factory. The report also argues for the introduction of the "Thirty Year Rule" for listing. Published October 1986.

CAPITAL OPPORTUNITIEs

A catalogue of listed buildings at risk in greater London which are in need of restoration. They include many Georgian terraced houses ideal for homes and offices. More obscure examples are an 18th century castle in Greenwich and a 20th century airport terminal in Croydon. Published July 1991.

CATALYTIC CONVERSION: REVIVE HISTORIC BUILDINGS TO REGENERATE COMMUNITIES 
Produced by SAVE in conjunction with the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, the Architectural Heritage Fund and the Association of Preservation Trusts, and signed by 17 other national conservation bodies. Catalytic Conversion outlines the importance of conservation to the Government policy priorities of urban regeneration, meeting future housing needs, and sustainable development. Fully illustrated, it features 15 varied case studies from all over the UK that demonstrate how reusing historic buildings has regenerated towns and cites, creating new homes and new jobs. Published November 1998.

CHRISTCHURCH: "WHERE TIME IS PLEASANT"
This report highlights the shortcomings of the Christchurch Local Plan of June 1991, which contained radical proposals for the town centre's historic conservation area. Published August 1991.

The spending on historic buildings in this country is meagre compared WITH the enormous economic benefits that accrue directly from preservation. Ways are suggested of encouraging conservation through tax allowances, wider grants and reduction of VAT. Published September 1988.

Published in February 1987, on the future of these buidings between Queen Victoria Street and Poultry in the heart of the city of London, SAVE argued for the retention of the buildings on the No.1 Poultry site.

HOSPITALS: A MEDICAL EMERGENCY
SAVE's fourth hospital report, highlighting the cases of a further 40 listed hospitals recently or soon to be made redundant. These range from the finest Victorian asylum in Wales to a Georgian seabathing hospital in Margate, an early 18th century paupers' asylum, two Repton landscapes and a number of magnificent mansions. Most are threatened by the loss of buildings or over-development. Published May 1997.

 MONKTON : A VANISHING SURREALIST DREAM
This publication launched the campaign in January 1986 to save Monkton House, the home of Edward James, and its remarkable contents. Lamentably the contents were sold in June 1986.

Since 1900 Scotland has lost at least 378 notable country houses. This book documented the losses and underlined the importance of the efforts being made to preserve, maintain and use those that remain. Published July 1980.

The 5th in the series on northern towns examined planning policies which have blighted the core of this great city. Published November 1982.

THE NEW ICONOCLASTS

RAILWAY ARCHITECTURE
This book, first published in 1979, draws attention to the demise of historic railway buildings, caused by the reduction in the rail network and the modernisation of what remains.

RISKY BUILDINGS: THE SAVE 2003 BUILDINGS AT RISK CATALOGUE
This, SAVE's 14th catalogue of buildings at risk, takes a look at 111 Grade II listed buildings at risk across England and Wales which are in serious need of repair. Each entry features a photograph, a description and a contact, and the introduction includes practical advice for would be restorers. Published April 2003.

SAVE BROAD STREET STATION
SAVE's scheme to preserve the front pavilion of Broad Street as part of the new development. Broad Street was demolished in 1985. Published May 1982.

SAVE GIBRALTAR'S HERITAGE -NOW!
A report examining the architectural and defence heritage of Gibraltar. The report includes contributions by Marcus Binney, George Allan and Calder Loth and contains over 100 photographs. Published October 1995.

SAVE's first report published in the Architect's Journal 17 and 24 December 1975 p1279-1313.

SAVE ST. FRANCIS XAVIER
Written when "one of the most complete and moving repositories of Catholic art" was threatened with demolition. Demolition proposals were later dropped. Published August 1981.

SAVE THE TOBACCO WAREHOUSE
Published in June 1989, this report highlights the threat to Liverpool's Tobacco Warehouse, the largest brick-built warehouse in the world, and suggests imaginative ways in which it could be re-used.

SAVE THE WOBURN CANOVA
Published in January 1990, two months before the scheduled granting of the licence to export the Three Graces, this booklet outlined the value of the sculpture both to Woburn and the nation.
