Wentworth Woodhouse, the Grade I listed Georgian mansion in South Yorkshire, was sold at the end of March 2017 for £7m following a 5 year campaign by SAVE and the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust. The Preservation Trust, established by SAVE, will now embark on a major project to restore the house and open it to the public.

After over three decades of involvement, Wentworth now joins the ranks of many great landmarks which SAVE has successfully campaigned for, including Bankside Power Station (now Tate Modern), Dumfries House in Ayrshire, the Welsh Streets in Liverpool, and Smithfield General Market.

But our work does not stop here

Currently we have over twenty cases on the go up and down the country, from supporting plans for a new Conservation Area in Grimsby, to calling on Manchester City Council to oppose two towers planned for the city's historic centre.

In London we are supporting the campaign to save the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, and we are highlighting the impacts of harmful new developments in Westminster

Please help us to continue championing threatened historic buildings by donating to SAVE. For more information about SAVE's Wentworth Woodhouse campaign, and our other projects visit savebritainsheritage.org.
